Overview

Sima Bhakta Patel is a litigator and employment attorney.  Sima is experienced in representing clients in a variety of commercial disputes, compliance issues, government investigations, employment litigation, and complex civil litigation. She has assisted companies in internal investigations, government investigations and litigation matters in state and federal courts.  Sima also guides employers through a broad array of employment and labor matters, including navigating FLSA, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, and other regulatory issues. 

Sima’s areas of focus include:

  • Restrictive Covenants/Non-Competition
  • Employment discrimination pursuant to Title VII, the ADA, and the ADEA
  • FMLA claims
  • Claims such as breach of contract, wrongful termination, unlawful disclosure of trade secrets, and workers’ compensation retaliation
  • Wage claims pursuant to the FLSA and the SC Payment of Wages Act
  • Development and implementation of employment policies and employee handbooks

Sima also represents clients on other matters including: 

  • Contract disputes
  • Business divorce
  • Complex commercial disputes
  • Litigation involving the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and False Claims Act (Qui Tam)
  • Assisted with presentations to the government and substantive submissions to the FTC in connection with proposed acquisitions and merger
  • Representation of companies in connection with government investigation by entities such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Department of Justice
