South Carolina’s 19th Annual Rural Health Conference

Privacy and Security Issues: What’s the Latest?

November 11, 2015

Nexsen Pruet's Jeanne Born is among those presenting at South Carolina’s 19th Annual Rural Health Conference in Greenville on November 19. Born will discuss new regulations that affect HIPAA privacy and security compliance.

Those require health care organizations to perform annual security audits.

Additionally, there is a renewed importance on obtaining appropriate Business Associates’ Agreements and other documentation due to the need for increased data sharing related to quality improvement – critical for rural organizations that are increasing their quality efforts.

Health care providers need to prepare to meet these Federal standards to protect themselves from errors that could result in fines and time lost.

More about the conference, or to register.

Jeanne M. Born is a Registered Nurse and health law attorney. She represents a wide variety of health care facilities and providers including hospitals, continuing care retirement communities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospices, home health agencies, home care agencies and physicians.
